Flavor of the Year

Chipotle!
And no, not the burrito joint.

Chipotle is basically a smoke dried jalapeño that is used primarily in Southwestern and Mexican dishes. You can get them dried, pickled, or canned in a vinegary adobo sauce (my favorite). From putting chunks of the adobo sauce covered chipotle into my tortilla soup or asking the Subway lady to put an "extra amount" of their Chipotle Southwest sauce in my sandwich or getting a Chipotle Wrap at Paradise Bakery chipotle always fulfills my savory and spicy needs.
