The Conscience, of the Devil(?)

While strolling on myspace today I found this "quote" (note that I quoted quote) by some girl and it read this:
"To recover broken ground is like looking for a conscience in the devil"

Just to note, this person did not get this quote from a famous author or philosopher or politician or Chuck Norris. She quoted herself. By doing so, she already gives this quote no credibility at all. Now lets get to the good part. From what I know and where I've gotten all my knowledge from (books, textbooks, movies, music, magazines, t.v. shows, Internet, and etc) the devil does have a conscience. Have any of you all seen this famous picture?

Photobucket

This is the picture I get in my mind when I'm deciding if I should eat the last Chocolate Glazed Donut. From there, a debate starts.
Angel: "Don't do it Hector. Remember you couldn't fit into those brand new jeans you bought the other day?"

Devil: "Ahh, don't listen to him. Eat it. Who cares. You walk around all day! You'll burn it off by 3rd period."

Angel: "That is not true! Studies and statistics have shows that in order to burn a 10oz donut you have to run 3 miles! That donut looks like a good 20oz's."

Devil: "Studies my butt! Haven't you heard that Mark Twain's quote on statistics?"

Angel: "No."

Devil: "There are three kinds of lies: lies, damned lies, and statistics." -Mark Twain

Angel: "I didn't know he said that."

Devil: "Yup."

Angel: "Well I'll be damned... Metaphorically speaking of course! Not like be damned to hell or something."

Devil: "Well, it kind of figures."

Angel: "What do you mean?"

Devil: "You are and Angel. You probably went to some super religious school that burned books and stuff."

Okay, were getting of track. Anyways. We all have experienced this inner conflict that goes on in your conscience once in our life's. Usually, it's good and evil that are butting heads. And like we just saw, it is usually portrayed with an Angel and the Devil. (Because we all know everything portrayed as evil immediately gets either a Hitler mustache or named the Devil) Everyone in this universe has some sort of evil in them, some have the ability to express it in an easier manner. Our evil lives in our mind and most profoundly in our conscience. The Devil, the evil in all of us, does indeed have a conscience. But unlike our human conscience his conscience consists of only evil. Giving the Devil the ability to express and practice his conscience through each and every one of us.

Girl on myspace, you've been blogged. And I hope she never reads this either, which will most likel be the case.

The Count of Monte Cristo (The Sandwich)

We meet on Facebook and we later Skyped with each other, now it was time for me to invite her over for dinner. Her name was Clarissa. I know that she has a cat named Charlie, was born in Chicago, is getting her graduate degree in biology at the UofA, and is a fan of Jimmy John's sandwiches. (I got all of this information of her facebook page.) "Sandwiches..." I thought to myself. "I'll make her a Monte Cristo!" Each ingredient that goes into the Monte Cristo can represent something out of our future love life. The bread would represent the warmth and comfort that we will have with each other, the ham would be the flesh of our love, the chess is the cheesy jokes and games we'll play on each other, the eggs are the children that we would someday have, the milk would be the breast milk she is going to feed to our kids, the oregano will be our hot and spicy sex life, and the butter would represent our ability to slip away but yet stay combined, since butter is slippery and it brings the whole dish together. When she came over at 7:30PM, like we agreed, everything was running like I planned. The Peter Bjorn and John (her favorite band, also got that info of her facebook) was playing smoothly and the $5 wine tasted pretty good for being $5, but then again...what do I know about wine. As I began to prepare the dinner I started telling her about my ingredient analogies. She left after the ham one.

And if you would like to know what a Monte Cristo looks like:

It's basically a ham and cheese sandwich but the bread is cooked in a way that it resembles French Toast. Pretty tasty if you ask me.

On another subject. Have you ever felt in love with a song that's in a foreign language. I find myself doing that a lot recently, especially with a song named "Dancer" by Tatsuro Yamashita. I know that Japanese rock has become popular here in American but what about Japanese funk! Check it out for yourself.

That's it for today. Now, off to the study books! (Textbooks...)

So, I've Realized...

How detached I've become with mainstream music. In today's society, if you're in the ages between 14-25, you base who you are with what you listen to. It's kind of like that quote, "You are what you eat". As I meet more and more people of that age group I've also noticed that 9 out of 10 of them are going to tell me music is their life. 8 out of 10 of them can name you the most popular song on the radio within 5 seconds, even if it's played backwards. I can't do that. I guess that is why I don't get invited to social events.

Anyways. To celebrate, let's talk about a non-commercial album that has come out recently.

BK One Pictures, Images and Photos

A Brazilian inspired album with guests such as Slug (from Atmosphere), Brother Ali, Murs, Blueprint, Raekwon, Scarface, Phonte (of Little Brother), and many more. What more can you ask for? The album opens with a skit that keeps going through the whole album, almost giving it a little theme, then followed with "Gititit" (all one word) featuring Brother Ali and Slug. It's a very party-full song with a lot of energy but still keeping it's musical elements, I can see why Bk-One put it as the second track. "The True & Living" featuring Raekwon and I Self Devine is first opened with the interlude "Caetano Veloso" which has a big-band feel to it. The climax of the interlude drops going into "The True & Living" making it truly a work of art. "Tema Do Canibal" featuring The Hypnotic Brass Ensemble is a instrumental song featuring, as we can already tell, a real brass section and no samples. It's always delightful to find a song of such nature in a Hip-Hop album. "Philly Boy" featuring Black Thought (of The Roots) is definitely my favorite track on this album. The lyrical essence is met because non-other than Black Thought is in charge, but; the musical essence is most definitely at the pulp of greatness. The sample that it has going on is going to be a sample I'm going to be looking for, for ages. It's just delightful. "Blue Balls" featuring Blueprint is a song a Blueprint/Soul Position fans, such as myself, will greatly enjoy. Overall, in my mind this album is categorized under the "A Breath of Fresh Air" mental file. No 808's, no AutoTone, no silly melodies, just real hip-hop.
4.5/5

Recently, I've been trolling around the world famous collegehumor.com. I got to say, they have some awfully funny stuff in there. Such as the "Social Hierarchy Org Charts Through The Years":

The funniest things in life are true, this is the most funniest chart I've ever seen in my life.

This has been the first blog in a long time and it has helped me realize why I use to like blogging - because it's something to do.

Take care everyone.
